After boarding Pearl the quartz whale on Toronto’s coast, you take a swift ride through the waters of Lake Ontario towards the Crystal Isle. As you get closer to the island, you notice local flora and fauna are crystalline. The seaweed is Jade, the starfish are Morganite, the sand is Jasper, the fish are Opal, Obsidian, and Citrine. Pearl surfaces and your jaw drops in awe as you take in the view. The Crystal Tree sits at the top of the island, hanging off the cliff. A massive crystal cluster protrudes the cliffside, seemingly supporting the weight of the tree. A vast plain with grass blades made of Peridot stretched up the hill; tiny white rabbits made of Howlite and Moonstone munching on the clovers. And to your left, you see a majestic forest with trees of Amethyst and Aquamarine. You notice a tiny house in the forest and make your way towards it. Cautiously, you open the door. A cafe? Light jazz plays through the speakers but the scene before you is far from classy. A bottle labelled “Pyun’s Secret Stash” stood on one of the tables with two tiny glasses flipped over; traces of a strong-smelling liquid leaking through the bottom. A figure with a massive diamond tail and pokey-looking ears approaches you. She places her hand heavily on your shoulder and you almost fall over from the impact. She laughs and cries at the same time; tears rolling onto the floor. You look around the room, confused. Is she sad or is she crying with laughter or both? After a minute of sobbing, she finally calms down enough to speak. “WHALE-” she pauses. “COME!” She really just paused so you knew she was saying whale come instead of welcome.. She snickers as she wraps her arm around your neck and pulls you towards the table. Her friends offer their smiles as they wave hello and give you high fives. As weird as this encounter has been so far, it’s kinda nice..maybe you’ll stay a while. And that was your first impression of Bijou Vos, the diamond fox VTuber.
