I feel about 25, but I have 25 years of experience at being 25 (long way to say I am 50 years old and loving it!) But tbh, 50 sounds old, even to me, and especially in the Fortnite streaming community, I am a bit of an outlier, I suppose, but that's how I roll!
David. David Clark. Nice to meet you. I am a farm boy from Malone, NY originally. Lived there until I was 23. Moved to NC and worked in home remodelling for a few decades. Started my own construction company back in 2002. Moved to Huntsville, AL where my wife is from back in 2005, and continued doing remodeling and additions. In 2020, I transitioned to residential painting, and love that career move. I thoroughly enjoy painting...very relaxing. When home, I am spending time with my wife , 4 kiddos and 2 doggos (both Golden Retrievers), and playing Fortnite in my spare time.
Definitely Chapter 1, Season 7. That is when I bought my gaming PC and switched from playing on mobile to mouse and keyboard. The Christmas theme in Fortnite, the battlepass skins, and playing with newly found friends that I ran across in random squad fill was so much fun. I always enjoy Fortnite, but I look back at that time as a kind of magical moment in my Fortnite experience.
Because it is hard. My favorite thing in life is learning something new...and there are always new skills to practice, new techniques and strategies to explore, and regular map and mechanic changes to discover. I don't mind losing a fight or a game, tbh...as long as I am learning and improving.
Well, I will tell you reasons you SHOULDN'T watch it. I am not great at the game...don't come for amazing high level Fortnite skill for sure...but if watching a bot run around and have a good time sounds like fun, this is your stream! Come for the community. Come for the coffee. Come for the interesting conversations in chat. Come hang out and get to know others in chat. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the engagement with a small but growing network of other gamers and streamers. I keep on running into the same crowd on a variety of streams that I watch, and it is fun when those same folks stop by and hang out with me for a while. Good vibes!
I have a small but intensely enjoyed set of hobbies. Fortnite is one of those. Whitewater kayaking is another. And coffee, coffee making, coffee roasting, traveling internationally to coffee plantations from Papua New Guinea to Guatemala, reading about the history of coffee, and coffee horticulture, and it's impact on culture and history is one of those hobbies I've done a deep dive into. Every morning I get up and make a pour over of medium/dark roast coffee and then sit and drink it with Gracie, usually accompanied by a couple of Pepperidge Farms Double Dark Chocolate Milano cookies. We sit and wake up and chat about our day while cuddled up on the love seat in our bedroom. It is my favorite part of my day...so yeah...I like coffee. I also own most of the equipment you would find in a well stocked coffee shop, including one of my prized possessions: a Nuova Simonelli Mac 2000S espresso machine. It is 20 years old, and I've had to replace some parts over the years, but it is still contentedly sitting in my café outside my home office, ready to produce some great shots of espresso that recently have been going into my version of Starbucks shaken espresso that my wife orders almost every day. So that is where "Café655" comes from...my love for coffee and the number on my home address. ☕
