My counterpart @neon_arcade and I typically alternate nights, around 9-10 PM EST to 2-3 AM.

Why “Cobra Commanda?"

My name is Amanda, so my G.I. Joe-loving cousin started calling me that as a nickname and it stuck.

Why are you streaming on Twitch?

@neon_arcade said that if I was already playing 4 to 5 hours of video games each night, then I might as well get on Twitch, since people might want to watch me. Turns out, he was right!

Is that your cool retro tech equipment behind you?

I own the cameras, the Switch, and certain games; everything else belongs to @neon_arcade. Jump on his stream if you want to ask any questions about it! And yes, we play on the original consoles.

How did you get into video games?

I loved reading and escaping into fantasy books as a child in the 80’s & 90’s; my dad was an early computer adopter, and I got really into text-based BBS games at a young age. My brothers also owned every NIntendo console from the NES up to the Wii, along with a yard sale Atari, Genesis, PS1, and a new PS2. I also fell in love with the stories and gorgeous pixel graphics of Sierra and LucasArts point & clicks—particularly King’s Quest VI.

About a decade ago, I started watching Let’s Plays because they would cheer me up if I was feeling down, reminding me of languid afternoons during the summer and winter breaks of my childhood spent watching my brothers trying to beat a particularly difficult game. It was a feeling of carefree timelessness I cherished and which is hard to find in adulthood, but it’s what I strive for in my own streams.

How long have you been doing this?

My first solo stream was on March 19, 2021, however I had previously joined @neon_arcade for a few streams as a guest on his channel.
