Welcome to The KittenClubhouse!
My name is Chloe and I foster kittens for a cat rescue in New Zealand called Gutter Kitties. We pride ourselves in running a no-kill shelter, and dedicate our time and efforts to rescuing timid, anxious and/or under-socialised cats.
All the kittens are rescues which means they can arrive in the clubhouse in any condition. We often get kittens with upset stomachs, covered in fleas and infested with worms and I provide the treatments necessary for them to become healthy again.
The set up you see on stream is in the spare room of my own house. A lot of the cat trees and equipment has been donated by our awesome community or purchased by myself. I have left my successful career to study Animal Welfare and Management full time so I can continue to rescue to the best of my abilities.
The kittens have all they need within the room, including litter boxes, toys and blankets, constant food and water, and get to run around the rest of my house when I can supervise them. Once they are big enough and healthy enough, they get desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and get adopted by their forever families.
I have been fostering for only 2 years and have had over 90 kittens in my care from straight off the street to adoption.
If you'd like to know more about my current fosters please type !{cats name} e.g '!odin' in the chat.
If you'd like to support me and the kittens you can subscribe, cheer bits, buy merch or you can go to the donations page by typing !tip or !donate in the chat.
Our cool blankets are supplied to us by Fluffies For Fluffies
I do my best to answer any questions you may have, however I do not monitor the chat 24/7.

Did you know in just 8 years one female, her mate and their offspring can produce 2 MILLION kittens?
I cannot stress this enough: Please neuter your cats. Gutter Kitties is just one of hundreds of rescues around New Zealand who are swamped with sick unwanted kittens because of irresponsible owners. We are a no kill rescue which means not only do we not euthanize unless medically necessary, but we have to say no to saving kittens when we have no resources left. A lot of shelters are 'kill' shelters, but that's only because looking after very young sick kittens is extremely demanding and resource heavy. New Zealand is only a very small country, but chances are there is a stray cat problem in your country too. The least you can do to help is neuter your cats <3

Where do the kittens come from? They are often strays off the streets we get called out to trap, as well as the odd few that are surrendered to us by owners who have not desexed their cat.
How long do you keep them for? We keep them until they are old enough to desex (around 1.2kgs) and, as long as they are healthy and comfortable around people, then get adopted out to their forever homes.
Are they unwell? Pretty much every new kitten to arrive is covered in fleas and infested with worms. So on arrival they are given flea and worming treatment. From there we assess if more medicine is needed, the most common illnesses are cat flu, eye ulcers, ringworm, ear infections and calicivirus.
Is there a way I can give the kittens a treat? Too many treats can upset a cats stomach. Because these kittens often have tummy problems anyway, I will not be setting up a 'bits for food' option like you see on other animal streams. These kittens are well fed and I do not want people to think they will go without food if they don't donate. Alternatively you can activate a ball drop with 300bits or above which will dispense a ball in the room for the kitties to play with!
What is the adoption process? All adoptions are done through Gutter Kitties - I will not be doing adoptions through Twitch. We have adoption interviews for each kitten to make sure they go to the right families. We have the kittens best interest at heart so each kittens personalities and temperament are matched to suit their adopters.
Are the kittens desexed? Before the adoption, kittens are desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. We desex the kittens to prevent more unwanted kittens as we get asked to take on stray cats and kittens every single day - often in very bad condition.
Are they sleeping? More than likely - cats can sleep for up to 16 hours a day!
How are they named? Chat can offer suggestions for any newbies that arrive, then we hold a vote to see which names come out on top!
How many kittens do you have at one time? I can have up to 12 kittens at one time, although 6 is a comfortable limit for me.
When is kitten season? In New Zealand kitten season starts in September and often runs until June, with a peak in summer (Dec - Feb).
What is TNR? In a Trap-Neuter-Return program, older community cats are humanely trapped, brought to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, eartipped (the universal sign that a community cat has been neutered and vaccinated), and then returned to their outdoor home. We only do this with cats we will be unable to tame and adopt out.
