RPG Quest is my attempt to beat all English RPGs on consoles (including portables).
Only games with English releases outside Japan are included, despite some Japan-only releases including English text.
Games patched to English via fan translations are NOT included.
Games released only via digital means (e.g. PSN or Nintendo VC) are NOT included.
Limited physical releases of digital only games (e.g. Limited Run games) are NOT included.
Physical releases of unlicenced original games (e.g. no romhacks) or officially translated games ARE included.

I'll play on real hardware when possible, however I no longer have any older generation consoles and will play those games on emulators. Also, due to the difficulty of video capturing certain handhelds, those will be emulated.
My currently owned consoles are:
I try to play the games as blind as possible, using only what is included in the manual.
In rare instances hints will be allowed if I get stuck, and those will be fully noted in the completed games list.
Please be considerate and not spoil any story or game mechanics in chat; a spoiler room in Discord is provided if you wish to discuss potential spoilers with others.
I am playing the games in order of release in North America (or Europe if it only released there). If a game doesn't have a clear release date (e.g. just a release year) it will be played at the end of the release year.
I used multiple sources to generate my game list, primarily GameFAQs and MobyGames. It is very difficult finding an all-inclusive list of games anywhere, due to the fuzzy definition of what an RPG game is. It will be tweaked over time to add or remove games.
Many games (especially the Action RPG and Tactical RPG subgenres) border the line of being RPGs, and I had to make the ultimate decision to add a certain game to my list or not. While I tried to make the game list as inclusive as possible, certain true RPG games will have slipped through the cracks. Let me know and I'll add them.
I consider a 'console' being a game system with the primary input being a controller; I left out anything with a keyboard, even if a specific game would use a controller attached to the unit instead of the keyboard.
I have added a tentative gen 8+ list, though it may occasionally be out of date.
