Welcome, I'm MattRPD a Partnered streamer on Twitch!
I started streaming on Twitch in September 2019, following the completion of my Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree. I also underwent the Legal Practice Course (LPC) a postgraduate legal qualification that is the final academic step to become a qualified solicitor. Unfortunately the LPC was not for me and the pursuit of becoming a solicitor eluded me, this was not due to lack of trying, but more due to lack of interest and willingness to pursue a career in the Legal profession. My life was at a loss since leaving the postgraduate course, and so I sat down and decided to pursue a hobby that I was seriously lacking in my life. Twitch was that hobby, which started from nothing has flourished into something I never had imagined.
The first few months of streaming were inconsistent due to holidays, family visits and trying to understand what content I wanted to put out. Initially I played a lot of variety games, not knowing what content I wanted to produce here on Twitch. This all changed in the early months of 2020, when I was watching a good friend of mine Tompano__ speedrun Resident Evil 2 (Remake) and this is where it all changed for me as a content creator. I was totally in awe that there were speedrun communities out there supporting each other to succeed and give out their best possible times for a game.
So, I delved into the speedrun of Resident Evil 2 (Remake) with friendly competition set with Tom, to compete with each other and support each other to better times. I played the same game everyday after work, and got very competitive times on the leader boards, took a few NG+ world records and got top 3 in the world on a major category for console.
The community was growing and we started to participate in charitable events, this includes; European Speedrun Assembly (ESA), United Kingdom Speedrun Gathering (UKSG) and also being a lead on creating the REMarathon charitable organisation.
