I'm Mermaid Unicorn (human name: Alanna Sterling) (they/them), but you can call me Merms. I'm born and raised in Ottawa, Canada but recently moved to Montreal and I do music full time!

I've been dyeing my own hair since I was 12 and I don't think I'll ever stop.
I have a BSc in Biomedical Science/Neuroscience (yes, I'm a nerd). I focused a lot on mental illness in my studies to try and understand my own diagnoses, and am extremely passionate about raising awareness and ending the stigma surrounding mental health. I want to create an open space for people to be able to share their feelings and stories. I battle bipolar disorder II, PTSD, OCD and ADHD, and boy oh boy this brain of mine can be a mean one sometimes but it also creates some cool songs and art, so I can't complain.
I'm openly trans-nonbinary, gender fluid and pansexual/bisexual. The Mermaid Brigade is proud to be a safe space for all people in the LGBTQIA+ community.
