March 2023 to January 18 2026:
Note: Nicole was using her i7 intel laptop to do streaming initially around March time 2023. However, there was a drawback that it could not cope with the stream for more then 2 hours and got too hot and shut down. Nicole realised that the graphic card and the computer power was not capable of handling the intensive streaming with all the software involved.
Nicole then upgraded the system to a M1 at end of March 2023. Ever since, the streaming was like magical overnight without problem. Of course, the high replacement cost and the compatibility of certain software and hardware have become the prize to pay. _ January 2026 to now: In around October 2024, Nicole's existing mixing equipment, Pioneer CDJ-200 CONTROLLER requires software being run on computer, and the 2 x faders were deteriorating & affecting the volume that Nicole so often had to hold each of them in place during a mix. The controller was the cheapest model for £200 & the faders may cost £200+ to be fixed. Might as well get a DECK that was a standalone mixing equipment requiring no software. The cheapest proper DECK was the all-in-one Pioneer XDJ-AZ for £2800 (Nicole has made up her mind to get a proper deck once for all instead of a cheap one lacking essential features). With the help from the loving community's donation, in January 2026, Nicole instead upgraded her mixing equipment to a more advance and long lasting modular mixing equipment as follows ...
Updated and trialed the mixing system respectively on January 18th and 22nd 2026. The system is a Modular Club Setup that includes:
Robust and well sought British developed 6-channel mixer with iconic ANALOGUE sound, Allen & Heath Xone 92: 6-channel Allen & Heath’s Xone 92 has remained the company’s flagship model for 2 decades and has been the industry standard since 2003 for its prototyping to 2004 for its first large quantity manufacturing. It continues to be a favorite among DJs, such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, John Digweed and big names you can name them worldwide even though Pioneer pushed out its 4-channel digital mixer in 2011 with the attractive computer interface before Allen & Heath managed to incorporate the computer USB interface for its subsequent model, Xone 96, in 2018 that was a bit late. The flagship model Xone 92 is longer stretch of time than that separating the rotary analogue mixers, Rosie and the DMC PMX-2 in the 70s. This suggests that there aren’t many improvements left to make. Has mixer design peaked?
A pair of Pioneer CDJs-1000MK3: Due to budget reason, Nicole could only afford this pair of second-hand CDJs released in 2006 that play music from CDs. She may at one point go on to upgrade this pair of CDJs for another pair with USBs in the near future.
Another Audio Interface, Focusrite Scarlett 4th Gen: Due to complexity of the connectivity, Nicole had to acquire another audio interface with adequate inputs and outputs to cope with the newly added analogue mixer and the pair of CDJs mentioned above.
More connectors and cables, such as TRSs, RCAs and etc
Hey all, welcome to my little music corner :)
ABOUT ME: I am Nicole & live in Milton Keynes in UK.
Regarding my deejaying, I love the sound elements of chillout to pumping, melodic, groovy, dreamy, hypnotic, euphoric, & yet dark and moody stuff (i.e. where darkness and moodiness can be the new euphoria) in Progressive, Techno, Trance (especially oldskool Trance), and some rare stuff in Breaks, Bassy House, Bassy Progressive and Bassy Tech House.
I was gifted a DDJ-200 by my mate, who organises music events using CDJ3000. Before that, I, as a teen, used to do a bit of mixing off my school mate's deck about a decade ago but it was only on & off thing to do since there were not many tunes in collection. As time went by throughout uni life & after graduation, I have hooked up with various artists and been having more tunes in my collection & I have also played in private parties from time to time. in November 2023, I also played in the live venue, Revolution Milton Keynes, for supporting the 90s Trance lengend, Lange, powered by the mighty promotor, Ignition.
Regarding my music, I was a kid musician playing piano, guitar, writing scores & producing music using Cubase since the age of 6 and I was doing & completing music involving music theory, music practices and performances throughout my school life before I started uni.
I used to hear quite a fair number of 90s Trance & Progressive in a skating venue where I used to go roller-skating when I was a kid & that was how I grew to love listening to these genres. Pure oldskool Techno may be a little monotony but I have the love of modern age Techno with more melodies & breakdown transition together with the sound elements described above. Due to busy work, I have not been able to engage in music production much but hope one day I will be able to release a tune or 2.
Right now, getting into the groove in mixing electronica from my beloved collection using a deck / controller is rather enjoyable.
