Welcome to the Armoured Brownies studio, I'm your curly haired host Tiffin (She/Her). We make Props, Fursuits, Cosplay Pieces, Sculpted Costume Parts and many many other things. I'm am experienced Maker who is here to help you through whatever you're trying to achieve yourself. I'm here to hold your hands so you don't float away, like the supportive Sea Otter aunt you never knew you needed. Or you can just have me on in the background whilst you work. I adore it when we have other passionate people share what they create with us.
I am Tiffin the otter and I'm a professional Modelmaker and full time freelance Artist. I work out of a small studio in southern England, which you are invited in to join me as I work.
What is a Modelmaker and are you qualified? I am a mostly self taught Maker who's been freelance for about 5 years. I now have a BA (Hons) Modelmaking from Arts University Bournemouth. Modelmaking covers so many things, from Architectural Models, to Product Models, Museum Models all the way to Mascots, Film Props and Prosthetics. Why share what you do? I hear the phrase I wish I could do that a lot. And you know what, you can! Understanding that you have the power to create is incredibly important, as it shows that you can change the world around you and itself incredibly empowering.
You talk about Mental Health a lot, what's your history? I have long term Clinical Depression. At the start of 2020 I finally got on medication that worked and it changed my life. So hopefully I can be an inspiration for others going through mental health issues to seek help.
Are you LGBTQIA+? I am the last letter on this rainbow, I'm ACE. To be more accurate, I'm a Demi-Romantic Asexual, but I am extremely assertive about my allyship for the whole spectrum. [A great video about being Ace can be found here.] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9tSal4YyII&t=7s)
So, You're a Furry then? Yup. At its core, the Furry fandom is all about Escapism, and isn't that the core of all hobbies, from Reading, watching TV, to Anime and Gaming? And if the question above doesn't show it's not a weird fetish thing, hopefully you can hang around and see just how wholesome the fandom is. I've never been part of a more accepting, supportive and creative group of people before and I hope you'll give them a chance.
Why a Sea Otter? Because Sea Otters live in communities of those around them rather than stick to families. I think those you chose to be around is more important, and they hold each other hands so they don't float away.
