It's being programmed with C++ and SDL2 for PC. In the future, I may consider a mobile port. I'm not using any game engine, I'm building everything on my own to improve my understanding of C++.
I have over 17 years of experience programming in front end web technologies. I got my start making flash games based in actionscript 2 and later AS3 which was my first introduction to object oriented programming. After flash died I went deeper with JS full stack development, SQL and PHP. The past few years I've been studying C++ and working on this game as a way to get back into game dev, the most joyful part of my programming career. I miss creating worlds and constructing programs from the ground up.
Along with advancing my coding skills I also work on deepening my understanding of visual design including digital art, pixel art, and graphic design. I sketch traditionally studying human anatomy, paint digitally for color theory and have learned to cultivate my inner designer.
And lastly but actually primarily, I'm a musician. I've been playing guitar for thirty years and singing for ten. And singing well for five. I've been in numerous bands, toured, played shows to crowds as much as a thousand people and made albums in professional recording studios. Music will always be a passion of mine and so occasionally you'll find me singing and playing guitar on stream. I also dabble in midi compositions which will come in handy when I make music for the game.
I hope my game dev journey is interesting and entertaining for you. What I want most is for people to feel inspired to work on their own creations and learn that taking small steps each day towards your goal is enough. Thanks for hanging out! Even if you lurk and don't chat, I will be forever grateful!
