Hi, I'm Zeni. Glad to have you here and I hope if you enjoy the stream you'll stick around!
I'm 35(+) years old, have a wife (SassyZeni) and 3 kids. I also work full time. If I'm not working, or spending time with my family, I'm usually streaming or creating Super Metroid content for my YouTube channel :) - All this to say, I do stay quite busy in life.
Also yes, I ran Super Metroid in Reverse Boss Order at AGDQ 2019 and 100% for SGDQ 2020 and 2021! Zoast and I also did a 100% Co-Op run at SGDQ 2023!
I primarily play Super Metroid on stream, but sometimes will branch out if there's a new game out I want to play, or if I'm just in the mood for something different.
Technically, I've been running Super Metroid since around 2004-2005. I saw my very first Speedrun ever back then on Speed Demos Archive, when the record was held by RedScarlet. I casually ran the game a couple times a year until 2017 when I decided I'd stream it on Twitch, and was encouraged to keep doing it.
So yeah. Super Metroid has been a big part of my life for more than half my life! I've certainly been playing the game for as long or longer than most :)
When I'm playing SM, usually it will be a speedrun or challenge run of some sort. If you have any questions, PLEASE ASK, but also please don't be offended if I don't answer in the middle of a run. If you feel like your question gets lost in chat, or like it would be a bad time to ask, I encourage you to join my Discord (linked below) and ask there! I love helping people with this game. I am also very self driven to improve my times in the game and find it especially satisfying to push the game in ways others have not before.
I have a number of World Records, including 100% & Reverse Boss Order. The most notable time I have right now is in 100%, but the only run I'm completely satisfied with is my Reverse Boss Order time. Coincidentally, my first World Record was Reverse Boss Order, which as of achieving the record was 5 minutes faster than 2nd place, also held by Zoasty at the time ( <3 )
As already mentioned, I love helping others learn and grow in the game. I have a number of tutorials on my YouTube channel, and I'm also always happy to answer questions as long as I'm not otherwise engaged (in a run on a good pace, for example :P)
Thanks again for coming by. Don't be shy! :)
If you for some odd reason feel like giving me money in some form other than Subscriptions/Bits, you can do so through streamelements by clicking above!
If I do happen to receive any tips, I'll make an effort to prioritize them to stream related items or events. My family's needs will always come first however.
The Taco TAS Tank is a trick I'm somewhat famous for as it used to be thought of as TAS Only, due to it being Triple Frame Perfect with a "coinflip" as there's a 50/50 chance it will work if you do it correctly... That being said, I've broken it down enough that myself and a few other Super Metroid Speedrunners have been able to get it at least somewhat consistently. Most famously, I performed this trick at AGDQ 2019 as part of my RBO Run.
The E-Tank has thus become part of my branding as a streamer/runner, in case you were wondering what related emotes have to do with anything ;)
Come join my Discord! I love chatting with people about SM and as I mentioned previously please ask me if you have any questions! I have a channel in Discord dedicated to SM Questions, or you can also ping me directly if you would like!
I try to communicate about streaming plans there if there's anything out of the ordinary going on or if it's been a bit, and we also just hang out and have a good time. :)
