The Valley Zoo Development Society (VZDS) is a registered charity and not-for-profit that was started in 1988 to raise funds and promote awareness to ensure the continued development of the Edmonton Valley Zoo, and its education and conservation programs.
Each year the Valley Zoo Development Society donates thousands to the Edmonton Valley Zoo for development and continual improvement.
Nestled on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is a small and intimate zoo that provides authentic and engaging animal experiences.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo is home to over 350 animals, with a full range of species from different climates and habitats — all here for you to discover, learn about and appreciate.
Want to help make a difference? You can donate to help us purchase new enrichment items for our animals! Every bit helps! 💖https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/the-valley-zoo-development-society/campaign/enrichment
Welcome to the Edmonton Valley Zoo’s exclusive stream of our red panda nest box highlights!
Red pandas face many challenges both before and after birth, making this a critical time for Kiki and her cubs. During this important developmental stage, they are not visible to the public, so we have set up this stream for you to enjoy all of the cubs' most precious moments and celebrate the newest additions to our #yegzoo family with us!
Many wild animal species are quickly becoming extinct. In 1992, the Edmonton Valley Zoo joined the international Species Survival Plan, taking an active role in the global issue of species conservation.
The Species Survival Plan consists of co-operative, coordinated breeding programs for captive endangered species throughout the world. The American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) administers the plan.
