Historically the Piltdown Man was Britain's answer to the Neanderthal. That our closest evolutionary cousin came from Britain and not Germany. Eventually it was discovered that the Piltdown Man was a hoax, 40 years after the "discovery" of a human skull combined with an ape jaw. The identity of the hoaxer remains unknown.
Why did I choose ThePiltdownMan as my internet nomme de plume? It started as what I would have thought would be a good/funny band name. Either The Piltdown Men or Josh Garner and the Piltdown Men if I could learn to sing well enough to become a frontman. Naming ones self after a world and generation spanning scientific hoax is quite hilarious to me. Unfortunately I've found that the venn diagram of people who know the reference and also stumble upon my creations is quite small.

I try to make weird little videos on YouTube where I try to document my progress in iRacing with weekly recaps.
